Projects

Projects come and go in my life. I actively keep a text file of ideas that I'd like to implement. The ones that make it out of that text file get written about here.

Beerpad

screenshot of beerpad homepage I like to drink beer and I like to brew beer. The first of my beer app ideas is a place to share and discover beers with friends called Beerpad.

Kwiqi

screenshot of kwiqi spending page with a chart of march spending This is a personal finance app I'm actively developing. I use it all the time, but it's not ready to go prime time. I've thrown up a quick project page with some details.

FlacoBlog

These pages you're currently viewing are published by FlacoBlog. I wrote FlacoBlog in my last semester in Berkeley after trying different blogging systems on and off. FlacoBlog is really closer to a mini-CMS that allows you to select files to work on, and apply 'recipes' for what to do with those files. See here for project details.

Housing

screenshot of housing listing index page For lack of a better name, I've created a housing bookmarking site to keep track of Craigslist housing ads. The app allows you to share ads with potential roommates, keep notes and tags about places you've seen, and extra utilities likes various maps. It's an on-going project, and I'd love to hear a better name for it. For now, it'll be known as 'housing'. ** Update 2008/12/05 ** This app was super helpful when I was looking for a place to live. I stopped working on it after I found a place to live, but less than half a year later, I have to start looking for a place to live again. I made a bunch of hacks to get it up and running as quickly as possible, but I'll definitely clean this app up since it's saved me twice so far.

Yumify!

screenshot of yumify food search page Yumify is a web application built on top of the Yelp! API. The purpose of the application is to make it as easy as possible to organize a group of buddies to eat out. We explored different ways to make the user interface as silky as possible. For example, there's no need for registration, and location is inferred by IP. The project's on hold until we get more time to work on it. **Update** I haven't had the time to migrate this app over to my VPS. It also hasn't been worked on since I took the class.

pSyfun

This is a project I worked on summer 2007 for my IBM ExtremeBlue internship.

WeightBuddy

This project is to help all the gym rats out there who need to track workout progress. I was stuck for a while on how input should be done for the weights. At first I thought it'd make sense for users to enter numbers into a form, but when I tried this out for myself, I really disliked it. My new idea is much more intuitive. More here later.

AnimeNook

Since I thought up of this idea a while ago, someone has registered the domain. It's not a huge worry since I wasn't too attached to the name anyways. Hopefully this project will get kick started again. With the proliferation of video streaming sites, it'd be fantastic if this site served as a one-stop shop for anime.
